...So under the new rules a UK resident can travel to France Germany Italy etc. to visit and stay with friends for 4 weeks or so having had two Covid vaccinations. these friends in Europe have also had their vaccinations and received the EU Green passport proving the fact. So far so good. They could all travel to the UK as a group together except.........the UK residents don't have to quarantine but the EU residents do!! It makes absolutely no sense especially in the light of the table below which shows UK tops the list of cases per 100000, e.g. UK 279 Germany 5 Italy 9 and also now tops the deaths list. Does the geographic location of where Pfizer or Astar Zeneca vaccines are administered somehow affect the efficacy?? Thought not. So why does Shapps distinguish between EU vaccination program and the UK one when the same vaccines are being administered?? In real terms the new cases stats are really a distraction anyway. They need to be contextualised as the number of hospitalisations and deaths are the important thing. Also where are the figures for age/pre existing medical conditions . 97% of deaths from Covid in Italy were in the 75-100 age group with known medical issues. Example, of all those tested positive here in Italy recently a relatively small percentage are actually symptomatic. Many others, especially younger people have had minor Covid illness and recovered and presumably now have antibodies. The testing programme has accelerated and now hitting over 500k per day. Testing is one thing but automatic quarantine for some but not others similarly vaccinated is irrational. How the UK numbers compare heountry Cases per 100,000 people by week Total vaccine doses per 100 people UK 279 119 Portugal 152 95 Spain 173 95 Turkey 41 65 Denmark 49 96 Greece 70 85 US 29 99 France 27 85 Croatia 15 65 Italy 9 90 Germany 5 93 Malta 13 156
Trying to make sense of the various travel rules is the road to madness. We’ll never be able to keep up with the number of variants by winter
You don’t need to make sense of it all. You just need to remember that if Johnson had put India on the red list NONE of this would have happened!
Just because hospitalisation cases per Covid case is down, doesn’t mean to say people who don’t go into hospital make a full recovery,. The numbers of known Long-Covid sufferers is only the tip of the ice- berg. I still haven’t regained my sense of taste and smell from late November. I still don’t have the same energy levels as pre- Covid. My wife has regular brain fog and occasional pains in her lungs/ back area. Rising cases should not be sniffed at
@Tekkytyke Quite simply; it’s what you voted for. If the government aren’t seen to be treating British citizens better than foreigners then they’re failing in their duty. Wait till you see that they’re literally making the work of the RNLI illegal.
Are you referring to this from the Financial Times? "Nigel Farage, the former Ukip and Brexit party leader, said on Sunday the RNLI had become “a taxi service for illegal immigration”. That man is a complete disgrace to the rest of humanity. I fear for this country if anyone agrees with him.
don't ever read the daily heil comments section. Fück my tall hat there are some really horrible people in this country.
I believe Donny is referring to Patel's proposed law change which removes a few important words. It will change from saying that you are not allowed to help an asylum seeker enter the country for personal gain to saying you are not allowed to help an asylum seeker enter the country. RNLI will pick up drowning asylum seekers and save their lives. That used to be fine as it wasn't for their personal gain but that part isn't relevant anymore. It's not clear what 'helping' an asylum seeker involves, would giving simple advice to someone on how to enter the UK to seek asylum count as 'helping them' and come with a prison sentence. Seeking asylum is not illegal but helping someone to do something that is not illegal is soon to become illegal. The whole point of the law was that you couldn't profit from someone who needs asylum as was to protect them from exploitation, the new law is just to stop them from receiving any help.
This has really annoyed me. I’ll start by saying I have absolutely no connection with the sea whatsoever. However, when at the coast I’ve always been fascinated by RNLI stations. A charity, not funded by the government. Men and women who volunteer to go out and risk their lives to save others at sea, regardless of race, colour or creed. Visit the museums and you can see the roll calls of those who paid the ultimate price. Somehow this seems - to me at least - what it means to be an island race. Something that made me proud to be British. Obviously no more. Because being British now seems to be about picking over statistics. And hating everyone else.
So basically that means if they encounter asylum seekers in difficulty it's an offence to do anything other than watch them drown. She's a vile c*#t, she really is. It's difficult to pick the worst one out of this government but I'm priti sure it's her.
I thought you were a staunch supporter of these clowns - there is no logic They seem to be operating a chaos theory of govenrment and have abandoned all pretence of competence you should try living here to get the full benefit highlights this week - knocking £20 per week of Universal Credit to encourage the already employed to err get jobs Extending working hours for Lorry drivers - thats going to end well Modelling shows that getting rid of all Covid measures will lead to over 700K new cases and 1.5 million per week being asked to isolate so crack on and desensitise the Covid app so it doesnt send as many alerts Allowing unlimited donations to the Tory party from "supporters" who havent lived in the UK for decades - thats just a sample of this weeks fun and games - you should come back and you have the nerve to moan at one stupid policy that affects you. Not getting much sympathy from me - though I agree the policy like most of the rest the clown party produce is dumb
I can't think of any reason at all why this government would want to be very obviously and irrationally prioritising British citizens over European ones.
Pritti Patel is just nasty. That's basically it. The Goveernment policy is basically trying to deny legitimacy by suggesting illegality. It doesnt scan at all. She will know she's wrong because she's intelligent but she will also know that it will get lapped up by the knuckle-draggers, the right wing press and the hard-core of her party. She may have the majority on her side sadly
No, Farage is a tw@ but he’s not in government I meant this: And that’s exactly what my wife’s reaction was, and she never uses that word.
Because we took arr cuntri back. You know exactly what you voted for, so you should have no complaints.
LGI and Jimmys currently very busy with Covid patients. Causing some issues and leading to cancellations in elective surgeries. It's unfortunate that people soon forget the stress this puts the NHS under.
Yeah I know. Only had time for a quick search. Jam Drop gave me the details. While I’m at it I’d like to apologise for referring to Farage earlier in the thread in this way: “That man is a complete disgrace to the rest of humanity” That should have read: “That piece of f@cking **** is a complete disgrace to the rest of humanity.” Thank you.
