I've not been on for a couple of days, and I couldn't get to the match either.

But didn't Bobby Hassell play at centre half? and we still lost? some thought that playing Hassell would be the saving grace we required, which it obviously never was going to be. Now what?

I don't recall a single sensible poster suggesting that recalling Bobby would solve our many issues. I do however, remember many sensible posters suggesting that he was still worthy of a start in defence, or midfield.

Btw, just to add, I thought his display at centre half (in only his fifth 90 minutes in 2012) was as good as any other centre half we have persisted with this calendar year.
The fact that he can regularly find a teammate, be it with a short or long pass, certainly adds weight to my claim.

Along with Tudgay, Perkins, Golbourne and Stones, he was one of our better performers yesterday. IMO.

hassell was the best centre half we have had play for us this season, not his fault if we cant do the basics, but dont let that stop you from having a dig.

Was he marking Curtis Davies for his first goal?

If it was Wiseman there'd be uproar...

It was Hassell`s first game in that position under Hill dont think Wiseman got that much criticism when he moved into his new position this season and made mistakes, thats assuming it were Bobby at fault.

Not sure mate, but he played better at centre half than anyone else we have played there this season, but I would not expect him to play there again under Hill because it is now Hassells fault that we conceded goals from headers, Just like against all the other clubs, I also said that it was the basics that this team cannot do right.
Where does that stem from , probably Hassell again eh?
If you think Wiseman has played anywhere near as good as Hassell did at centre half then you are getting befuddled at such a young age!

Do you just search every post I put now then ?Just because I disliked some of your posts?:p

I just enjoy our debates Mark...

I thought he was steady but let's be reight he didn't have much to do did he? If he was marking Davies then people are ignoring it. Foster still by far our best defender but I'd put him next to Edwards to give us that height we're missing.

If it wasn't for many of his last ditch headed clearances we'd have lost more easily.

Hassell had a far better game the McNulty but I can hazard a guess at which one will be dropped for Saturday.

Why is the mere whiff of a critical remark is pounced upon by Bobby's supporters. It is surely not Bobby's fault that he is not 6 inches taller, but merely noting of his lack of height, a critical feature in a centre back is ceased upon, whereas the same criticism of Wiseman, which is just as valid, is wholeheartedly embraced. Bobby was playing CH because there was no-one else, and he does not deserve criticism for giving it his best. However, when Foster is available again, it is quite right that he takes Hassell's place at CH.

Ok, so Foster comes back, why does it have to be Hassell and not Mcnumpty that goes

The point is we're lacking height. It wasn't McNultys defending that was the problem yesterday but his distribution and holding onto the ball too long.

But I'd put both Cranie and Foster back in if they're available.

And McNumpty is a **** nick name.

We were short of height at set pieces, which is where Brum got their goals. They were not much of a threat other than set pieces. If Mcnulty was the one to make way for Foster, we would lose McNulty's hieght and would still be short of height at set pieces because Bobby would be marking a tall player. However, if we are playing a team of dwarfs, Bobby would be fine.

****, but very apt, didn't think anybody could be a worse defender than Wiseman, but Mcnumpty is

Pounced on? I'm a 30 year old bloke, not a juvenile. I was merely correcting the OP's assumption that everybody insisted that Bobby would solve our many issues. Nobody ever said that, did they? Plus, Archey admits he wasn't in attendance, so I then gave him a brief summary of Bobby's display, which IMO was as good as I've witnessed this year from a BFC centre half.

Bobby was near to Davies when he scored their first. But so was another taller defender (not sure who) and Steele a yard away on his line. I'd have to be harsh to blame Bobby, whether or not I'm a supporter of his or not.

Wiseman is 6 ft tall, and has been at fault for a multitude of goals conceded - hence my often harsh criticism. I didn't get on his back during his first handful of games at right back, nor his first few games at centre half. I do try to give a player some time to adjust etc. Which again, leaves me unable to dish out any blame to Hassell for one goal that he may or may not have had trouble defending. I mean, it was his first start in that position in years. And only his 5th start for BFC this calendar year. So instead, I focussed my appraisal on his overall performance, and for me (MY opinion) he was a steadying influence yesterday, and the best passer of the ball on the field. I also saw no evidence of his supposed lack of pace, as his duel in the first half with Redmond will testify.

I do however, expect him to be dropped.

Me, I'd pick Cranie and Foster, and put Bobby back in midfield ahead of Greening. Not letting the goal he scored disguise the fact that he's as immobile as Miles Addison, slower than Jan Molby, and basically a crab (his nickname amongst the West Stand supporters). I prefer the Handbrake. It suits him to a tee. Good goal though. But Cotterill scored a good goal for us last year but he was still a toss footballer. Found his level this season at Donny.

Possibly would be, yes. And rightly so. Because it would have been Wiseman's 20th mistake leading to a goal this year.

My remarks were not directed at yourself. I thought that your earlier reply was along the same lines as my own. My comments were general comments addressed to the whole thread.
