But, whilst I am very encouraged by our forward play tonight, and more attacking endevour... I have absolutely zero confidence in our defences ability to keep a clean sheet. (Middlesborough excepted). We might have the players that eventually have a blinder all at the same time, but thats one game out of 46. Where the hell do we start sorting out our defensive frailties. I mean, why are we constantly having to look to score 3 maybe 4 goals before we can even think to win a game. Even with super Bobby in their, we still have some very very week defenders, and I aint seen enough of Crainie to make a decision on whether or not he will be able to help stop the rot. My head hurts
We give away silly goals. Just like the start of last season. We've been crying out for a dominant CB for a few years back. Even Shackell was average in my opinion (we conceded **** loads when he was at Oakwell n loads in the air). I think Sir Bobby is too slow to play at RB now but looks like he did well in midfield today. Think Stones will come good as the season progresses. Haven't seen Collins or Cranie yet. Not a fan of Fozzie but I though Golbourne was very good v Rochdale and Boro but he's prone to lapse like all of them. While our players may not be brilliant we could be a lot more organised at the back. Just look at what Hodgson did with our shower of ***** national side
I don't know where Hill begins with our defensive problems but one thing is for sure and that is that he must make it a priority. I don't think we'll go down but our defence will be the difference between comfort in April and another end of season scramble.
