Didn't we beat them in the cup before the Liverpool game in the 80s? Aggy and all that?

Anyway, great 3 points today. Well worth a few bookings.

2-1 I think. Aggy got the winner - Shilton was in goal if I remember

The game was postponed 2 or 3 times, had to rearrange a few shifts for that but it was worth it, made a day of it and what a day it was.

    I wasn't so lucky

Had tickets but then couldn't go when it was rearranged.

Remember the game well, won with goals from Agnew and Owen, our manager was Bobby Collins as caretaker, it was the last day of the miners strike. I travelled home, got home early morning and had to get up for the miners march at 6am, do a full shift on lates and got home at 11.00, had 3 hours sleep in 2 days. Also on the tannoy at their ground they were telling their fans to book their tickets early aftre the game, expecting to win.

John Peel had arranged a djing session in Southampton in anticipation of them winning the game and playing Liverpool.
