Didn't we beat them in the cup before the Liverpool game in the 80s? Aggy and all that? Anyway, great 3 points today. Well worth a few bookings.
We did Went on to play liverpool in the next game - must mean in the league . Hate the way they do that - we can't have played them that many times in all those years </p>
was that 3-2 or 2-1 went down for the saturday game and it was postponed, couldnt get off work for the match when re sheduled mid week :'(
not won in league page 556 on teletext gives details...prior to prem season, last time we played them in league was in 50s
RE: was that 3-2 or 2-1 The game was postponed 2 or 3 times, had to rearrange a few shifts for that but it was worth it, made a day of it and what a day it was.
RE: 1985 Remember the game well, won with goals from Agnew and Owen, our manager was Bobby Collins as caretaker, it was the last day of the miners strike. I travelled home, got home early morning and had to get up for the miners march at 6am, do a full shift on lates and got home at 11.00, had 3 hours sleep in 2 days. Also on the tannoy at their ground they were telling their fans to book their tickets early aftre the game, expecting to win.
RE: 1985 John Peel had arranged a djing session in Southampton in anticipation of them winning the game and playing Liverpool.
