It's beginning to look a bit like it, but I do still think that PC rates Davey highly and he and the Board will stick with him.
I cannot for the life of me predict how we are going to perform this season.

Davey is just very, very confident in his own ability.
Successful people usually are.
In his eyes he will view himself as successful - he kept us up 2 seasons running against all odds and we had that fantastic cup run and ended up at Wembley.
For a rookie manager learning his trade on limited resources, that's not bad going and will be viewed as successful.

I was thinking a bit more specific Tina ie shortage of strike options and the ludicrous way he insists in trying to convert Hassell to midfield.

Yes. I agree NYR.
Some of his decisions are baffling and the lack of striker options is driving us all to distraction.
We ALL know we need another striker.
We all know Hassell will be in midfield for at least a month as he will prefer him to Colace who is supposed to play in that position and who has been brought in to provide cover/competition for Da Silva..
The 3 strikers up front is a favourite when we are losing and I tremble in fear at seeing that again, although I know it will happen- possibly even as early as next Saturday when we are 2-1 down, opening up the floodgates for QPR to score another 3 or 4 ! It hardly bears thinking about.
Oh well, we shall just have to grin and bear it and hope that he does learn from mistakes made. Pre-season gets you thinking perhaps not, but we have to be optimistic.

It depends how you look at it though don't you think?.
For most of us, 3 points from relegation may not be successful, the other scenario, which I described could be viewed as successful (I am sure it would have been viewed as successful by Davey and his team!).
As fans we are all different and we all have different expectations.
We are all satisfied/dissatisfied with one thing or another.
The criteria at the beginning of last season was to improve our position and not end up 'looking over our shoulders at the relegation zone'
We achieved one but not the other so we were either successful or unsuccessful, whichever way you look at it.

don't know mate. All I'm doing is trying to reconcile the comments from this summer accredited to Mr Cryne regarding Hassell in midfield etc, and how Davey's set the team up in pre-season.

It's Cryne's money that's brought Davey's signings in, including many nidfielders, and if we are moving forward with a makeshift midfield and it doesn't pay off in terms of results then imho I can see conflict between the owner and manager. Just what I think mind, Cryne may be totally happy with how things are, cos he'll doubtless be talking to Davey as we go along.

we improved our position last season....how...?

3 points from being relegated as opposed to 4 the previous season...

(yes the table states 9 points but Leeds wouldnt have taken a 10 point deduction had they been safe)

I can't see him being entirely happy though can you?
Only saw the team for the first time on Saturday and haven't seen Colace play at all, but didn't someone post on here (SM was it?) that Colace wasn't Championship standard?
Now that would worry me.

RE: Davey

Not quite 'just that'. I'll accept his record to date hasn't been spectacular...but how many other managers have got us to the semi-finals of the F.A. cup?! He helped give us a day nobody could EVER have expected at the start of the season, plus we beat 2 of the very best teams in the world...that takes some doing!

But this season will very much be make of break. Bad start and he could well start to feel a bit worried for his job - and rightly so - I'm as frustrated as everyone else over his stubbornness and apparent reluctance (even if no-one really knows what he's doing behind the scenes) to strengthen
