    Jack Owen,
    this time i do know the year
    it was 1942
    i played for Birdwell rovers
    we lost 6-5 to woolleycoll,at worsboro bridge ground
    i was 14,got a2/6 saving stamp as runners up, i threw mine away in disgust
    but the Barnsley intermediate league,were to play hallamshire league
    and i got picked as reserve,
    we played against Barnsley Res,at oakwell
    Jack owen, was the Barnsley C/F
    he scored a cracker from half way line into ponty end
    that was 1942
    you will never guess where i met that man again in 1948
    well at iwas at the dip board coal face at Barrow
    he got called up and went to war in elalamein
    when i told him i was joining upin1949
    he did his best to stop me
