I feel more able to comment about the Hume incident on Saturday. From my position in the East stand I had a clear view. I could not believe that the ref did not send Morgan off. From the Tv footage of the incident it became more clear what Morgan's motives were. There had just been a sending of of De Silva and Ehiogh. Morgan got involve in the aftermath of that incident. With feelings running high, it was clear that Morgan expected trouble and decided that he would protect himself, much as in a fight you might decide to get the first punch in. I have no doubt that he did not decide to injure Hume seriously, but then again I have no doubt that when people start a fight they intend to injure each other seriously. Nevertheless, he did so and should therefore suffer the consequences of his actions. Off at a tangent.... I am sure that you all remember the Liverpool game at Oakwell in the Premiership when Morgan was sent off for an elbow on Little Mickey Owen. Do we all feel the same way about that sending off as we did at the time?
Yeah, thinking back to that Owen incident I realise that Gary Willard was right all along, all that indignation and feelings of being cheated was us Barnsley fans just being silly and we thoroughly deserved what went on that day. I feel a fool now. Bring back Garry Willard.
Admittedly these things have and will continue to happen in footy, and even by some of our lot.
Although I dunt think Owen got his skull caved in.
