Got into TARN a bit earlier at about 12-30 so went to Subway up Market Street for a sandwich. Barnsley was surprisingly busy with shoppers. Got to the Old No 7 at 1 to find it packed full of Blackpool fans. So went in Brahmas. Went back to No 7 (for some proper beer) later to find it still packed so went down stairs. Haven't had a drink in that part of the pub for decades. Can't believe that such a small room was the only place at one time for young uns. All the town centre pubs are set up for young uns these days. Back then it was just this small cellar room. How things have changed. Got to the ground a bit earlier than usual - 3 minutes to 3, to find there was a good crowd there. SURELY 'THE DON' HAS TO LOOK AT THIS AND COME UP WITH OTHER INCENTIVES DURING THE SEASON i.e. drop the admittance fee to say £15 for a few matches dotted throughout the season. How much better does it feel to be in a crowd of 14,000 compared to 8,000. It also shows that the fans are still there - the people that talk about Barnsley having a poor fan base don't know what they are talking about. Couldn't find a decent seat with a good view in the West Stand cos the place was packed. So moved about a bit before I found one. Paul Ince in the stand. Saw The Don but didn't see Pat. Hope Pat is OK and still able to attend. Anyway on to the match. Blackpool are a good team to watch - probably the best team in the league to watch. Good players that know how to attack. They have also spent big money building the team. On the other hand Barnsley have spent next to nowt in comparison. On the whole Blackpool were the better team, but there wasn't that much in it. Which proves beyond doubt that we have a fantastic management team at Barnsley. Barnsley didn't have one bad player on the pitch - everyone of them played well and played with CONFIDENCE. There is usually one player that lets the team down - but there isn't one in this team. Players of note were; Foster - never seen him play as good. Stones - getting better and better. When up against Ince, who is probably the best winger in the league: Ince really struggled when he came up against Stones. Fantastic performance by this young player who is set to go far. However, the MOTM was Dennis the Mellis. Class act and getting better. Two good goals scored, especially the Blackpool goal. Fantastic pass through to Ince who got the wrong side of Golbourne. So thats that..........all in all a great day out.........looking forward to the next match. Lets hope The Super Tykes can keep up this level of confidence on their away days.
No I tried summert different. A gay guy in front of me was mincing about and asked for a 12 inch with meatballs. I didn't think i was up to swallowing that so i just got 6 inch.
We were in No 7, got in just after 12 and there was just a group of 5 Blackpool fans in, so we got sat at a table near the front door. 15 mins later the place was heaving mainly Blackpool fans. Reckon the owner of No 7 and Acorn brewery had been touting it as the place to go on Blackpool message boards as he's from Blackpool and I saw him later in a Blackpool shirt. Can't fault him the trade he got in and it was all good natured, not a sign of any trouble. One of the guys I was in as been in before other games this season and said there's usually nore tarn fans in than there was. Didn't spot you though.
