Its my missus` 40th this weekend and I want to get her a personalised plate. Seen what I want but I need the number 7 to look like an l(L). So it needs to be more upright. Does anyone know who would do this for me?

    Cheers

They should do, if they're a garage. I use a guy online from Sheffield if you want his email address?

Of course it is, doesn't stop people doing it though! I've done it before and never got caught.

Well it would still look like a 7 but just a straighter 7 if you know what I mean.

And it should be an on the spot fine for it.

Start at £100 and double it every time they get pulled.

Even if you don't alter the letters

and it's perfectly readable, if it's not the EXACT official font, they'll pull you. My mum got pulled over because the corner of her L was slightly rounded. This despite the font being otherwise identical to the official one and very readable. Even though you can point out that a personalised plate is actually easier for somebody to remember so is more identifiable they'll spout some nonsense about cameras not being able to read them. So they have motion sensitive cameras in car parks that can tell the difference between a car thief, a car owner and a dog (based on the pattern of movement and frequency of leg motion) yet they can't read some simple block capital letters if they have rounded corners. Hmm. Police OCR technology must be behind the rest of the world then. I take it these cameras can read foreign number plates with tiny letters. Yeah... can they chuff.

Its illegal (hate it), looks shoddy and tacky. How about a proper present?

do you drive round with fogs on too and sidelights?

I drive around with my lights on at all times

So I can be seen, but I don't use my fog lights unless it's foggy, funnily enough!
