Showing what a great player he will be, full welsh international for a couple of seasons now, playing regularly in the 2nd tier of English football and made a few premiership appearances all as a teenager. Really shows what a talent he is when you compare him to our youngsters in the academy/reserves, who are loaned out to Halifax and other non-league or nearly non-league teams. Hopefully Butterfield will break the mould but others like Atkinson, Potter etc l feel just aren't up to scratch.
Atkinson should be given a squad place next year-his time at grimsby will have done him the power of good-he keeps getting good reviews
Feel he's not good enough for the Championship.. League 1 maybe, thats all we churn out of our academy... League 1/2 players. Look where the majority are playing now. Chris Morgan is a one off thats come through the ranks and played in the top flight in recent years.
I think you're being harsh there. How long is it since you saw him play? Deserves a chance to come stake a claim in pre-season. We're in a good situation now where there's competition for places.
He's got great awareness but a propensity to switch off. that'll come with experience hopefully. not so sure left back is where he's best either, but Foster and Souza are our best centre half partnership.
Agreed Though I think Souza is even worse than Nyatanga for switching off. He has a tendancy to get the ball and turn in a full circle without a care in the world while a player is closing him down, it normally results in either a hurried pass back to the keeper or a kick in to touch. But as with Nyatanga, hopefully that will come with experience. Still think we need to sort out the full back positions though and work out who is best at each side. Kozluk on the left and Foster on the right? but Foster is best in the middle too.
Hopefully he'll sort that... cost us a couple of goals this season but he will sort that, a future prem player for sure, miles in front of our own youngsters. Hopefully the deal will go through in the summer and hes ours for good. Definately Prem clubs will be wanting his services in 2 years time.
A left footed left back would be on my shopping list for the summer. and maybe an experienced centre half wouldnt go amiss. that said, the priority should still be a goalscorer.
I think Kozluk is better on the left I didn't think he played as well as he has been doing last night. At the start of the season he was played on the right and wasn't convincing either.
And another de silva style player as cover. Obviously won't be anywhere near as good but somebody that can fill the space when needed. Oh and a new winger too, we only have two (leon is never a winger) and devaney is a bit hit and miss. The good thing is that although we still need a few positions strengthening, (possibly 5 new players?) the base of a very good team is there and the new players wouldn't all have to come straight into the side.
Davey did his homework put Kozluk up against former team mate Quinn, seemed to work well for me, Quinn's a dangerous player. also, Foster is much better at centre half, so I reckon the selection was pretty much spot on. For the Cup, I'd defo put Kozluk to left back, that lad Ramsey on their wing looks dangerous so he'll need to be on top form again.
RE: Can you imagine Werling doing what Kozluk did in the Chelsea game? Shuddering at the thought.
Still have him has a left sided midfielder sithi.

RE: Feel he's not good enough for the Championship.. Also Andy Liddell started as a trainee and played in Prem and Championship.
Fair enough I forgot about those two playing together. For future games I think Nyatanga is too slow to be a full back though...
