<p class="ss-text-bold">Lewin Nyatanga's agent has dismissed speculation claiming that Nottingham Forest and Barnsley are fighting it out for the teenage international defender. </p> </p> </p> Nyatanga, who has 20 full caps for Wales to his name despite being only 19, has been strongly linked with both clubs. </p> </p> However, with Derby's relegation back to the Championship, Nyatanga could very well return to Pride Park after spending most of last season at Barnsley. </p> </p> His agent, Dean Sheehan of Definitive told skysports.com: "As far as we are concerned, Lewin has three years left at Derby County and he will stay and fight for his place. </p> </p> "I wouldn't be saying this if Mr Jewell had given us any indication that he didn't want Lewin to do just that. </p> </p> "At 19, Lewin has just completed another full season in the Championship and the club he played for on loan is desperate to have him back. </p> </p> "What does that tell you about his ability?" </p> </p> </p><h4>Interest</h4> </p> </p> When pressed on Forest, Sheehan added "Mr Calderwood has not phoned me so as far as I am concerned it's just another rumour. </p> </p> "Lewin has had two games for Wales against Iceland and Holland this week. </p> </p> "I am sure his stock will rise even further after that. Central defenders do not hit their best until they are 28 or so and then tend to play for as long as goalkeepers. </p> </p> "That is why Lewin is not rushing in to anything. That is why we have said "no" to the two Spanish clubs that have approached us. </p> </p> "Even if he doesn't start next season as first choice for Derby, football is full of twists and turns. He is an outstanding young talent and Derby is expected to fly back to the Premier League. He is looking forward to the challenge." </p>

It should be 'are expected' not 'is expected' ............... ...... well it was when I went to school
I'm no English expert, but... ... if you gave Derby their full name, then it would be singular (as in "There's only one Barnsley FC") (Changed name for obvious reason !) Therefore, Derby County Football Club IS expected to .... If you include Derby County FC and their supporters, then it would be... "Derby and their supporters ARE expected..." I know that people talk of football clubs in a collective sort of way, so commonly it is accepted that ARE is used instead of IS. Stands back to be shot at
actually..... ....both variants are technically correct, but it is generally accepted that in British English we tend to use the plural verb with a collective and in US English, the yanks prefer the singular verb. Which I thought made Lewin's buddy sound like a bit of a knob.
