Had this debate with a friend. What are the best team crests? For me, Wolves (simplicity) Arsenal - simple but a shout out to the history of the club.
Hull City. Saw their team bus when they once played us and there was a board in the front windscreen with a Tigers head on identical to the one on their shirts. Very impressed.
There’s some good ones. I couldn’t choose between them. I personally like the rugby league badges. We can place the Official Barnsley badge in the worst badge category. It’s the badge of the town - which is ok - but it shouldn’t be the badge of the football club. We need something that is simple and punchy. Something based around Toby Tyke - Yorkshire Tykes - Barnsley. Something that any teenager from Barnsley would be proud to have on their shirt or sports bag. I could do it given access to an artist.
I loved the Oak and the well badge we had (although a bit before my time). I’d love for us to go for a retro shirt with a simplistic design one season. I’m sure it would be a hit amongst fans. Could even have a website vote in which shirt to bring back to generate interest.
For us i like the Oakwell. England badge. Ajax. Barely dare type this but wensdy had a design classic and replaced it with a crappy arts n crafts looking thing.
Not a crest but I always liked the Leeds Utd LU badge, simple Instantly recognisable doesn’t date and good for young and old
In the Mid 60's my uncle who was a Mines Inspector emigrated to South Africa to manage a Coal mine. With other ex-pats he formed a football team and unfortunately, they weren't very good. Very appropriately their name was Wankie FC. because they were all employees of Wankie Colliery ( name is now Hwange Colliery). http://david-longman.com/Zimbabwe_Hwange.html
