Very sad to hear the hardware emporium is no more. I remember, as an apprentice being sent to Mill’s for a long stand,,,,,,I think we all know how that ended...
Are you still there pal? End of an era as far as I’m concerned, the had every permutation of bolt/fixing/screw I’ve ever needed
A bit like sending the apprentice out to the newsagent to get a copy of the boss's favourite car magazine... Fiesta.
Really sad, a company that we used very regular, if they didn't have it they had it next day for you, friendly staff gutted for them.
Hope the staff get jobs asap. The place was booming in the 90s because there was nowhere else to go for bits and pieces . Then Bapp turned up and more recently screwfix. The place has looked a bit run down for ages. There was a little bloke who worked there, ginger haired lad, he knew where everything was .
Went there loads with the fitters from work as a young lad, always reminded me of that Two Ronnies sketch ‘handles for forks!’ Staff always seemed like they were doing you a favour serving you back then. Very sad it’s gone though, a Tarn institution for many if us.
Very, very sad news. I used to deliver coal for a living. Mrs Mills was one of our customers. A lovely polite, dignified lady, but I'd be lying if I didn't say the reason I remember her so fondly after all these years is that she always gave us at least a £5 tip.
Absolutely gutted to hear it.....they sold virtually everything engineering related...and always at a fair price.
