last night I was at the Lyceum in Sheffield watching Educating Rita starring Stephen Tompkinson. In the first act mobile phones went off 5 times at separate intervals, driving Tompkinson to turn and point at the audience”that’s the fifth time a phone has gone off! You are ruining this performance!”

Surely to goodness when it happens once you think “is mine off or on silent?”. How inconsiderate can you be to the rest of the audience and the cast?

To be fair the audience gave a good round of applause in support of the cast.

And it was an excellent performance.

Well, you should've made sure it was turned off, then! Bad enough it going off once, but five times? You inconsiderate devil!!:D:D

Stewart Lee at the playhouse in Leeds warned at the start he would take anyone’s phone off them and smash it. A woman late in turned the torch on, bad move. He came and took it off her then shoved it down the back of his pants until the end of the show!!
