had a very enjoyable stay on the north east coast @ seahouses @ spring bank can anyone recommend anywhere on the north west coastline for a short break thanks in advance or even welsh wales
Wales has so much going for it, and doesn't quite seem to have drawn the crowds as other places, though Tenby is probably one of the more popular places. Depends what you're after I guess. The places we've stayed have been short let holiday cottages in the middle of nowhere. Pembrokeshire was where we recently went and there was tonnes to do, castles, NT places, coast. But also been to Ceredigion (Cardigan), a place near Llanachaeron (NT). We've somewhere booked in late September, though the name of the place escapes me, its in Cardigan bay but further north than where we stayed last time.
what are you after - if it's sea/mountain/castles/sheep/sheep/sheep/friendly people then Wales is a good bet. (p.s. a word of warning - if you walk into a pub we all stop speaking English and start speaking Welsh.)
yes I nearly got into a fight in Cardigan, saying excuse me in a busy pub, the welsh lad had a few beers stepped in front of me and said something in welsh, with aggresive intent, said to him "sorry did not know excuse me was welsh for do you want a fight",that seemed to amuse him and he stepped aside laughing
Ynys Mon - brilliant and only about 140 miles from Barnsley. I think the old Suspension Bridge 250 years old - linking Bangor to Menai Bridge is a brilliant structure.
thanks for your suggestions will look into looking to do a bit of walking mixed with relaxation and obviously a nice drink at the end of the day just struggling to find anywhere thats not fully booked or want an arm and a leg off you
Northwest - Grange over Sands or Morecambe (maybe). Depending on what you want - both have coast and access to the Lake District. Wales - Ynys Mon as mentioned above - Newborough Beach is fantastic and easy for Snowdonia Further south, Bamouth or Harlech area have nice beaches and again not far from Snowdonia - and are a little nearer than Cardigan.
Barmouth is great, we used to sing "Darn to Barmouth" as we was driving to beach, my son used to love it there
Barmouth has lovely beaches and the waters clean (or it looks clean anyway ). Great for exploring too Snowdonia or castle viewing .
