Moved out of our previous property as away for the summer and were expecting to complete on our purchase mid-August. Vendors dragging their heels plus there's a border issue which is causing delays. My solicitor is still optimistic we'll complete by the start of September, but if we don't my family will arrive back from their summer travels and be homeless! So, was just wondering whether where the best place is to find reasonably priced rentals for a month or two? Airbnb works our horrendously expensive as it just calculates it on a nightly basis, and on Rightmove the minimum tenancy is 6 months, which is too long.
My friend contacted an air bnb directly and explained the situation. They got 3 months guaranteed rent so we're happy to reduce the price on that basis to be more in line with standard rent prices.
That's what I was thinking of doing. I used to rent out a place on Airbnb myself and was often asked about longer term discounts. Very rarely refused.
You could look at hiring a camper van or similar if feasible for your family as it’s such a short timeframe?
I’m not sure to be honest. My friend basically tours around in one all summer but she owns it. Pubs generally let you stay overnight for free if you eat there, and there’s loads of apps that lists places you can stay. An actual campground would be the best if you didn’t want to be on the move every couple of days. Although after Googling it I’ve seen they cost a fortune to hire so never mind!
Was thinking of the potential road trips, rather than living in a 200 square foot space with a teenager and unblocking the biotoilet for the 3rd time in a week
I think you should do it and make a video blog so we can all watch the fun and jolly japes. I promise I'll come visit you in prison after you've murdered your family. It will also cost you more to hire the camper for a month than it has to buy your new house.
Check out UK caravans for hire, you usually get direct contact with owners of large statics, the main summer season will be drawing to a close and they have ground rents to cover, you might get a good deal, it should show you the availability if they are quiet they may help you out.
Could try the holiday let market, like holiday homes or VRBO.com looking from around 2k for a month but they also do say discounts for longer bookings,
That's an excellent shout. Although it would probably involve living with a menagerie of animals, which I'm not a fan of. Still, when the other options are my mother or a tent....
VRBO looked quite expensive. Will take a look at holiday lets as we'll already be out of peak season. I'm sure there's plenty of static caravans in Ingoldmells available!
