http://www.barnsleyfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10309~1378971,00.html IN light of the ever changing nature of media provision and a substantial increase in the number of supporters signing up to Barnsley World in the last 12-months, Barnsley Football Club have decided to concentrate its time and efforts into providing an outstanding level of service for its online subscribers. Following discussions between the Football Club, the Barnsley FC Supporters Trust and members of the Oakwell 1575AM team, it has been decided that the club's match day radio station is extremely limited in terms of range and the number of supporters capable of hearing its output. Barnsley World has no such limited or boundaries and the Club intends to focus its time and effort into broadening the provision of commentary to World subscribers. Oakwell 1575AM will no longer be on air and commentary of all home and away matches will only be available on Barnsley World, costing as little as ten pence per day. In addition to match commentary of every home and away first team game, starting just before kick off, subscribers to Barnsley World will also get the opportunity to watch video highlights of every game just 24-hours after the final whistle; exclusive video interviews from Oakwell and the revolutionary Match Live Console, giving the chance to get live and interactive commentary, goal flashes and stats from around the country so you can see everything that is happening whether it's the Premiership, Championship or League One and League Two.
So now even locals can't listen for free?! </p> fecking hell</p> If only Barnsley world was worth it. fecking money grabbing Barstewards</p>
"Barnsley Football Club have decided to concentrate its time and efforts into providing an outstanding level of service for its online subscribers" So by taking 1575 off air, what exactly are they hoping to achieve with Barnsley World that they couldn't have done while 1575 was broadcasting?
Absolutely disgraceful I despair at this whittling away of our abilities to tune into Radio Commentary. First R Sheffield and now this.</p> I will not, repeat WILL NOT buy the online service, EVER.</p>
Had Shepherd still been here I would have said yes, definitely. Still, it's the only answer I suppose mate.
Same here mate. The amount of people critical of it will never fill me with confidence in the paltry service. They can ballax. Hope we're on Sheff alot more this season.
Jesus Wept!!</p> "IN light of the ever changing nature of media provision and a substantial increase in the number of supporters signing up to Barnsley World in the last 12-months, Barnsley Football Club have decided to concentrate its time and efforts into providing an outstanding level of service for its online subscribers"</p> How the bleedinghell does taking Oakwell Am off air help?? So, to enhance the quality of service, we will no longer get pre-match build up? Really enhances it for me, NOT!</p>
That is crap If your at the match it's nice to listen to Oakwell AM in the car. Just out of interest, how many people who don't go to home matches purhcase Barnsley World?
Very disappointing news I loved listening to Andy, Allen, Adam, Matt & Steve. Thanks a lot lads, the Big Lils will miss you all.
What an incredibly stupid and short-sighted move. So you don't have the internet? TOUGH</p> So you're on your way to the match? TOUGH</p> Stronger Together MY ARSE </p>
RE: It seems that they are trying to milk every last penny they can out of the fans. I thought that this was the real reason for the fall out with Radio Sheffield. The fans were getting something for free and the club 'our friendly local club' simply couldn't bear it- hence the attempt to 'force' fans to purchase Barnsley World- perhaps we have misjudged Radio Sheffield!
Would love to know the figures of Barnsley World subscribers since we pulled the plug with radio dee-dar,i was a regular listener to dee-dar when i couldnt make an away game,(when live) but refuse to pay for it through the internet.Sat commentry at Birmingham was a breath of fresh air, excellent apart from the result, both Paul Walker and Higgy gave us the commentry we expect.
