http://www1.freewebs.com/oakwell1575am/ Commentator's Eye and On-Air sections have been updated. This includes an apology for the recent PTV connection problems. We will be on air from 6.45pm this evening and we'll hopefully be able to establish a full web connection, if that's not the case you will still be able to receive full match commentary via ISDN machine. Please be patient. Listeners in the Barnsley borough can still tune in via their radios on 1575AM medium wave. We know the quality of reception varies depending on the area of Barnsley that you are located, this is once again due to broadcasting restrictions, rather than faults on our part. It'd certainly be great to strike a happy medium asap, so that anyone who wants to hear the commentary can get it loud and clear through whatever medium they choose. Thanks for your support, The Oakwell 1575AM team
Matt, is anything being done about the restrictions? The goal has to be so as many fans as possible can hear the station through their radio. Obviously being heard anywhere in the country is asking too much, but Yorkshire should be a target.
Restrictions We agree with you Dreamboy and would like to broadcast to as wide an audience as possible. Things are largely out of our hands at the moment though, unfortunately, for quite a number of reasons. I'll get Andy to post a sticky stating all the 'whys, wheres and what fors' of the radio station again at some point. I know this sounds like the usual spiel/jargon, but we are doing everything we possibly can in order to try and improve the service.
RE: Restrictions You do well within your restrictions and it will be good to see what Andy puts. Now more than ever we need something done about it, with the Radio Sheffield problems, Dearne being poor and full of adverts and Barnsley World not affordable to everyone.
RE: Restrictions I think it would be great if the club at least made the match commentary part of Barnsley World free due to the current situation, but I doubt PTV would allow it. It would mean the club would have to finance that facility, but if it was weighed up against the costs incurred if Radio Sheffield still provided the coverage, then it might be viable, I don't know - it's not really for me to speculate. There may be a free 'taster' commentary around about Christmas time, but I would imagine that things will remain as they are for the time being at least.
RE: Restrictions Get the antenna up the closest lighting tower to the transmitter.make the cable run as short as possible to cut down on the return loss.
Get new feeder cable in one lenth(coupleings bring down the signal like you wouldn't believe)and new connectors(solderless) , these would help greatly with the signal as I presume you havepower output restrictions..
If you need a hand in the future with the riggin let me know. (Y)

RE: Restrictions With the RSL (Restricted Service Licence) we are limited ti using the AM< frquency and are given a maximum output of 1 watt.
I am grateful for your offer and will be in touch via pm or email if that's okay.

RE: Couldn't you sell your commentary to Dearne FM ? nt In a nutshell mate, no! DFM aren't licensed to broadcast full match commentary at the moment, as far as we're aware.
RE: Couldn't you sell your commentary to Dearne FM ? nt Sounds like a legal minefield, all credit to you for getting something over the airwaves ! I guess it's problems like these that make MUFC want to negotiate their own deals - oh and the money as well
RE: Couldn't you sell your commentary to Dearne FM ? nt As Matt said earlier in this thread, I will put together a sticky for all to read concerning the situation with broadcast licences etc.
This will have to be tomorrow as I now have to get ready and look my best for the radio tonight.
And none of that 'you've got the perfect face for radio' crap either!

RE: Couldn't you sell your commentary to Dearne FM ? nt Look your best for the radio Quality line. Looking forward to reading the situation tomorrow. People power could maybe get things moving in a positive direction. Damn shame so many people are missing out on listening to our great form freely on the radio.
Frigging in the rigging? I'd like to hear you get the words "bum feta" into your commentary. Can you also interview Spud Murphy? I'd love to hear him pronounce Kayode Odejayi as "that big black lad".
