    Hiya everybody,

Just a quick line to let you all know that the Oakwell 1575AM commentary team have written a season preview in the 'Commentator's Eye' section of the radio station website.

Go to - http://www.oakwell1575am.co.uk - to read it & if you agree or disagree with our "pundits" drop us a line @ the e-mail address given on the home page of the site!

    Cheers.

Kinell - you are a bunch of mentalists ...

Matt - 'hard to beat again' ... which team were you watching last season? I bet Donny are shatting themselves again.

Adam - 'local lads, pride' ... fair enough - but there is no substitute for talent. And we had a fair few local boys in the capitulations to Donny & the Fowls last year.

Allen - 'Hayes + Nardy = goals' ... which of our 3 main strikers is a proven goalscorer in this division?

Andy - 'Best season for some time' ... based on what? Tea leaves? Palm reading? We have a poorer squad than last year in an equally competitive division.

Chris - 'Hopes & Fears by Keane' ... and just like Keane - our squad is full of girly bum dogs. Bottom of the charts by Christmas.

Steve - 'Optimism, coherent - promotion' ... you must have eyes painted on cocker. Cloth has been cut. It will show when the boys wander onto that big bit of grass.

I'm all for hype at the start of a new season ... but are you all just trying to bum Andy Richtea & Gord Shepherder?
    It isn't all rosey.
We are not going to win this division at a stroll.
    Be realistic.
If I wanted to hear the team being praised - I'd ask the kit man his opinion.

Or do you all share a notepad?

    Allen Cooper's "key players"...

then he lists half the side. Or half the subs bench. One of the 2.

They're all wildly optimistic or full of cliche, as one would expect from the club's own radio...

as for who's gonna score the goals...I'm more worried about who's gonna set them up.

    It's called optimism mate :D

Something that is sorely needed at Oakwell!

We were hard to beat last season TPF. 19 Draws and 14 Wins underlines that fact.
We all call it as we see it & I'm sure our preview last season under Paul Hart was slightly more pessimism based. With the exception of 2 or 3 sides this is still a very poor league & if we can't compete with this year's squad then it'll be some time before we can imho.

Before I bugger off home cocker ...

... correct - we call it as we see it.

On the other hand - I thought we were very easy to beat last season if you take into account the quality of the squad we had & what we were competing against.

I see nothing that has changed my mind.

Your confidence, optimism - whatever you want to call it - is misplaced ... just like a Nicky Wroe pass.

    I hope you are right.
All logic tells me you are wrong.

It's called the 'spine' of the team... similarly Arsenal struggled when missing either Campbell, Vieira or Henry, or Chelsea without Makelele, Lampard or Terry.

You think a squad of around 20 can only have one key player then?

You make an excellent point there spadge ...

    ... but it's completely cack.

I agree - the spine is important ... but as I stated earlier in the week - ours is as follows:

    GK - No established keeper.
    CH's - No established partnership.
    CM - No established partnership.
CF - No established goalscorer at this level.

    You are all blind.
    Try carrots.
    Or cricket instead.

I always thought McP was pretty spineless...

Can an amoeba anchor our centre midfield? Will our creative genius waddle far enough up the park to set summat up? Will he be shunted wide left again when teams are steamrollering us? How long before he's injured?

and giving the dwarf a mention, I thought the "spine" was the centre of the team...not an inept midget "winger" out of harm's way.

ho hum - football is back!

Unlike the other local radio stations....

....We do this for nowt TMFDM & TP, purely for the love of BFC, as well as providing a service for those unlucky enough not to be able to make it down to the 'Well week in week out. There's no propoganda involved, our views are our own, in fact if you asked most of the BFC hierarchy what their own in-house radio station was called they'd probably say "Radio Dee-Dar?"

In short we are fans just like you two & we have to try to put a positive spin on things even when the situation calls for the complete opposite. I think we've all got the rose tinted bi-focals on for a good reason this time though, only time will tell if we're right or not, but I would be prepared to wager that will be on this occasion, if I were a betting man that is. :)
