That every team WITHOUT FAIL says that we don't sing much - even when we do? Wolves fans said it (probably the best singing this season at home), Cardiff said it, I even remember games when Oakwell has been rocking & visiting fans have said it. Maybe the acoustics are all wrong at Oakwell?!! (Not that there was a great deal of noise last night).
Doesn't help with the **** attendances though either! Another poor one again last night the stay awayers should be ashamed!(furious)
True last night was dire for singing. I sit in Ponty end and when we do sing it seems the Eaststand never join in. I sat in there a few times last season and couldn`t stand it. Come on East stand give it some noise! Agree with Disco about the stay awayers - shame on you.(NOOO)
those who stayed away missed a decent game last night too.Beats sitting at home slating them on here whilst listening to match on radio......
I sit in the East stand lower at the back roughly in line with the away end penalty area. I'm 47 and I'm a baby amongst the fans who sit there. I would say the average age of the supporters around me is mid 50s. Now to get some of them to sing you'd have to gently wake them and tuck in their travelling rug first. Also home fans don't sing like away fans do at most grounds.
Let's face it though... on the face of it we are a struggling side and compared to the last time we were in this division, the cost has risen from £14 (matchday) to £20. That's soem increase. A Tuesady night match with Plymouth was never going to attract many at £20. Nights like last night are perfect opportunities to try football for a fiver or summat.
im not an architect but i know the west stand isnt good for trapping/holding noise. Some noise will be lost before it reaches the away end. Grounds with singing sections right next to the away end will get more credit for atmosphere. Would be good if we had the Ponty end and a little siging section in the East Stand (nearest away fans). Maybe something to raise with the club.
RE: im not an architect No-body would want to sit there. The Ponty has always been the source of most noise
RE: Let's face it though... n i want to know why dont they turn music up when players come out n when we score to get fans going, tannoy system is crap, at hilsbrough the music was banging, got home fans going, so i reckon its time to get music turned up to full to wake rest of crowd up hu dont sing or nowt. but away from home every 1 gets behind em which is good, so cant wait for sunderland a saturday
RE: im not an architect fans (nearest away end) only sing in the East Stand when its a big game (Wednesday, Leeds, last season Hudds in playoffs)
RE: im not an architect There's not a great deal of fans near the away end in the East stand lower. Mainly because the stewards won't let anyone sit there without a season ticket.
RE: im not an architect Mr Ridsdale and the security company stopped pay on the days going in east lower gangway 7/8 after a stuffed monkey was waved at hartlepool fans a few years ago.
RE: im not an architect sounds excellent i hope the guy who did it got a free half time pie Wonder what other animals could be waved about to incite opposition fans.
RE: im not an architect I was there too and still am, it was the security company sending the storm troopers running along the front of the North Stand that inflamed the situation and forcibly ejecting people for waving a teddy bear.
RE: im not an architect I think it was more due to the fact the monkey had some kind of string around it's neck which from what I could tell, they thought it was racism.
RE: im not an architect I am too. Like I said, from where I was sat it looked like they thought it was racism.
