Promising young gun Jamil Adam has featured once as a substitute this season and needs to time to impress, so it's little surprise Davey is holding on to Odejayi. "We've only got three strikers at the club who are fit, so I wouldn't let him go," revealed Davey. Odejayi has started just seven times this season for the Reds, scoring once with 18 other appearances as sub. The former Forest Green and Bristol City centre-forward signed for the Reds in June 2007 from Cheltenham Town for £200,000. But although the 26-year-old hitman netted a memorable winning goal in last season's famous FA Cup sixth round victory over Chelsea, the player has been the subject of hard criticism from club supporters for some bad misses. Since his move from Town, Odejayi has scored just five goals, four in the Championship and one the in the FA Cup. And those goals have taken a total of 70 appearances, 34 of which came from first-team starts and 36 as a substitute. Hartlepool caretaker manager Chris Turner has revealed he hopes to complete the signing of a new player this week. </div>
