Off down newquay monday, what's the best time to set off

    Couple who is going with us reckoned about 7am, until I mentioned about hitting the mighty birmingham at rush hour...

    So we have discussed about setting off at around 4am, but worried we might hit traffic near bristol area.


    Any pointers????

    I think you'll hit traffic where ever around 7/8am, mate!

    pretty much what I thought...

    just wondering if there is a kind of time to set off and timing it so I would be somewhere thats not as busy

    best I can think of is stick foot down and try and get to the a30 or summat before 7

    but the others dont' want to set off "later"

    If you like night driving and can stay awake

    Set off about 1am and be there before anybody thinks about rush hour anywhere.

    Mate, you'll find the M1 busier than the M5 at Bristol. Hope the weather picks up, i'm sitting at home in sunny Cornwall and it's cold and wet

    aye, wil just grin and bear the traffic then...

    weather wise, its only supposed to be raining monday, then clear fine and sunny (a little cold though) for rest of week.

    that will do me.

    plenty to do though no matter what the weather

    We went down last summer.

    Set off at 3am.

    Stopped off for an hour, but got there 10am.

    set off as early as posible mate. getting stuck near bristol is a nightmare. then theres bodmin after which is just as bad if not worse. have fun anyway mate (Y)
