Started the Offa's Dyke Path long distance walk today. Ended up in the Boat Inn in Chepstow after 3 miles. Far too hot to walk, decided to stop in here for a bit. Cheers all!

Picked a bad day to start that - can you delay until Monday - think the temperatures become a bit more sensible next week

I'm currently sheltering from the sun in the Boat Inn. I'm camping wild tonight, which basically means I plod on this evening until I keel over and nod off. Then up at 5 before the sun attacks. After the weekend it will be ok, I hope!

Walked it many moons ago. My favorite long distance path. Good luck.

Isn’t is weird? This popped into my head on Monday and I was researching the walk myself. Hope you enjoy it, and keep us updated on progress.

I don't think my limbs would work if that was my bed for the night! I'd definitely need a mosquito net as well!

We set off to walk into Burton (4 miles) to pick up the car today (ironically had the aircon repaired) but got half way and got the next bus. As you say @Stahlrost, way too hot for walking.

Edit, the ride home was heaven.:):)

Made it to Monmouth on day 2, 25km/16 miles. 33°C, hot sun, hardest walk I've ever done in my life after a wild sleep in the woods last night. Life saved by a kind and generous lady in Brockweir who supplied me with water, coffee and chocolate biscuits. Nearly gave up, sat down in the shade and started googling for taxis, went on the BBS and discovered that Hex were ex-Hex. That inspired me, so I got up and carried on and made it in the end. Already had several beers.....

Get up early, walk as far as I can before the sun gets too high then go to a pub.
