I can definitely see him as being this kind of guy that wants stuff done properly and not signing off on something that's a risk. That's how he came across last night and in the Garrison. The offices were a bit of a **** tip with stuff lying around and he's cleaned it up and reorganised everything. He's done the same in the playing area and restructured the back office staff. Upped the security across the stadium. Im guess Im still struggling a bit to understand why he waited for 2 weeks to say a bloody thing if these are genuine issues. Might just be inexperience in the role, misjudgment or the cynic in me says it's time to find some issues to hang it on and get the story straight. I dunno, but we heard bugger all from Gauthier or Dane until they'd had some time to get their feet well and truly under the table. He's come out and faced the fans, press and will do it a few more times so fair play in that respect. He's been a bit clumsy but I did like some of things he said about his plan for the club at to work with the council as Barnsley football club to work out a plan to make Oakwell an even better asset for the Town. I spoke to him afterwards about the club finances (no issues) and about his plan to increase the commercial side and introduce an offering for all budgets. He seems to think that there are issues that have impacted the team and Schopp with regards staff, fitness, coaching etc etc. I remember having a conversation in the past with Patrick about the fact the fans were screaming for the managers head. It was Lee Johnson at that time. He explained all the mitigating circumstances and why he had to give him more time. Of course, he was totally correct. Let's hope Khaled and this board also knows better.

The key thing for me from these things are if the people are believable, hence why I asked Hooky that question last night.
I don’t expect to agree or like all the things said, I also have no issues with people making a wrong decision.
But if they are felt to be honest and believable we have a chance.
    Thanks

He said about lack of fitness in the Garrison as well…..To be fair, anyone can see the fitness levels are not as high this season, and that we’ve had a lot more injuries than normal, so I agree there’s more going on in the background than just Schopp. I think with so many personnel changes this summer, we got caught out. And Khalid pretty much admitted to it.

I’ve said in another post, even if he was sacked, I’m not so sure things would turn around that quickly either due to lingering issues.

I also think it’s worth pointing out, that as a football club, we have a very small but hardworking back office at Oakwell. It’s all hands-on-deck really.

It slows things down at times, but can also speed decisions up as there’s less layers.

Other clubs can have 50% more staff doing the same roles. Look at the physio dept at Hudds…..

So for me, that’s why some issues are slow to be tackled or looked at, because there’s just not the resources there. But what we do have, are a bunch of grafters who care.

For me, if Beth genuinely says something, I’m happy to take her word for it.

Very true, compare us to most championship clubs and we are hugely under-resourced in the back office.

To be honest this lot have history of letting the horse bolt then trying to shut the stabe door...then when that fails they start rallying around trying to do damage limitations..how its seriously backfired this time..when will they ever learn about us northerners
Tell it how it actually is instead of all the smoke and mirrors ...we accept it and deal with it
I can appreciate him not wanting to put his name to the safety certificate and his concerns but that doesn't excuse the fact that he initially attempted to lay the blame at the feet of others before realising he's caused a sh.1t storm and changed direction......As for the rest of the reasons he sights we all know that oakwell is suffering from a lack of care and attention neglect of the stadium as been an issue for many years....Your not telling me that Conway and Co didn't know this when they first looked around
The way I see it ..its now being used as a political pawn to either hanker a reduction of rent or trying to force a move away from oakwell a new build ...They've already sowed the seed of doubt about the east stand and the problems with the North too..and let's not forget the 100 + year old wall....all of which will now be used to their advantage when it suits them In the future...
Which to me they having pulled out of purchasing Oakwell raises more questions than answers plus gives them the greatest of excuses to ground share if and when it suits based on safety issues
A earlier thread suggested a move out of town was on the cards.. the poster was ridiculed ...having read the CEOs replies to questions raised it sounds to me a move is on the cards if reassurances that this crew are stipulating aren't going to be met ....theres no loyalty to the town no sentiment regarding our history ...id say they don't care where they could pitch up under the banner of Barnsley FC
One thing is certain in my mind ....I don't trust Conway and Co let alone the new CEO
The sooner they are out of Town and away from Grove Street the better...otherwise in my opinion we could be the next Bury....in the sense we don't exist
Time to stick to your word for once Conway
And as you said ..if we aren't welcome anymore we will Fxxk off....
Don't know about the rest of you but in my opinion that times come....
Dark days ahead folk no doubt it will get darker especially come January...when the fire sale starts re players

Wait until they find out there is a top tier in the East Stand. Possibly they should shut it to prevent complaints.

I find it astounding to read that the Head of Media and Comms of a multi-million pound organisation is involved in decisions over stand safety, turnstile operation and catering provision.

In the last accounts (which we now can assume our CEO hasn't read), it states I think there are 24 backroom staff at the club.

What a woefully tiny amount. It must be a barebones operation.

I’d be astounded if they weren’t part of the decision making on that one. Not in terms of actually influencing the decision being made, but being part of the discussion on it in terms of how you handle the comms, the changes, the marketing of it, etc.

The job title alone means you should be part of that leadership group and involved.

He's been tasked with making an assessment on catering provision and recommending improvements.

There's no way the Head of Media and Comms would be asked to do that where I work, and that's in underfunded public sector education.

Head of Marketing can mean a plethora of different things depending on the industry your company is in.

Essentially marketing is there to focus on the consumer. Our food and drink offer, and how to improve it, is something that should touch the marketing team alongside whoever is running the catering side at Oakwell.

Nothing wrong with that at all.
