I cannot echo those sentiments enough. It is almost eight months since my one year old neice sadly passed away in her mum and dad's arms at Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice. My wife and I, and my in-laws were also there. The weekend before last I visited the hospice for the first time since, for a memorial service for all the children that had passed away in the last year. It is easy to get wrapped up in your own loss and it was heartbreaking to realise just how many children have died in just twelve months, it must have been at least thirty. The word I would use for hospices is 'inspirational'. Every single member of staff who work at the hospice are the most incredible, amazing people you could ever meet. Their compassion, support and love made what is the hardest thing my family have ever had to deal with as bearable as possible through their commitment to making such short and often painful lives as happy as they can be. I used to think fundraising should be focused on cures. Afterall, if someone is suffering from something terminal how can you make a difference? Its only know that I realise how completely wrong I was. The difference the people at Bluebell Wood make day in day out to families going through the most traumatic experiences is amazing - there are simply no words that exist to pay enough thanks to them. Keep twinkling little star x
