Keeping the fee secret as per and sad to see no mention of future add ons or incentives like a sell on. If it's four million pounds for our injury prone second best right back then that's good business to be fair.
"Bree joins a growing list of exceptional, highly rated Academy graduates who have progressed and excelled in the Barnsley Football Club First Team then can't wait to get out the door"
Good bit of business for all that I reckon. He was going to leave anyway and we have adequate, if not better, replacements in his position so can't see it affecting us this season much. Villa have got themselves a fine young player and he's secured his financial future at 19.
If we got 4m for him that's decent but , he is our first choice right back so I think it will affect performances and results . It wont do a lot for team spirit either .
Midlands press are reporting £2m, which makes Hourihane £3m if you believe the reports about a £5m combined fee.
Well done James, think you could do better than Villa as a place to improve your football mind'st, but maybe it is a step on to better things later in your career.
Interesting point. True enough, but the skill is giving the long deals to the right people. Any idea the last time we gave a contract out of that length? Incidentally, Roberts; Jackson; and Kpekawa were given three years, whilst MacDonald and Yiadom were only given two (I think). Maybe they only asked for two, or maybe we didn't want to take more of a chance on them. Where we missed a trick, would have been to make them all an improved offer after (say) six months.
interesting he's chosen Villa really, i would have thought some of the premier league clubs would have taken a punt.
