I've seen us when we were magnificent When we drew 0-0 away to Liverpool, the European Champions, in 82 we were magnificent. When we beat Chelsea in 08 we were magnificent. There were a number of magnificent performances in 96-97 when we simply blew the opposition away. And in 97-98 when we fought like lions to get results against multi-millionaires. Just a few days ago we were getting on towards magnificent in the second half against Leeds. But a 2-0 defeat to the bottom of the league does not qualify as magnificent. Maybe we were knackered. Maybe we were just crap. We're allowed to be crap now and again. We're not all suddenly going to turn on all the players and the manager. We understand that we can't be great every week, particularly when the squad was put together on a pittance. We know it's a work in progress and we know we can't play like Man Utd every week. I'm still going to the Swansea match and I'll still be cheering them on even though I know for a fact we were crap against Donny. So will thousands of others. But when we're crap just admit it. For a manager that is constantly praised for telling it like it is he doesn't half talk some right old *****. Magnificent my arse.
He's using the Louis Walsh definition of the word magnificent: Magnificent [mag-nif-uh-suhnt]. Adjective: Utter bilge or tosh. Absolute jizz-bag. A right load of old dog-dirt. Exemplar usage: "I thought that slapper from Pontefract's rendition cover of Shampoo's "We're In Trouble" was magnificent" "Garry O'Connor was yet again magnificent in his leading of the line"
