Lee Johnson's Walsall Reaction - More from the official site... 20-10-2015 11:50 PM
Lee Johnson spoke to the press after seeing his side slip to a 2-0 defeat at home to high-flying Walsall. A disappointed Johnson said, “I thought the first 15 minutes we were a bit off the pace so we adjusted the shape,” explained Johnson. “After we adjusted it we stopped them playing and it was even-steven at half time. Then after that we came out the better side, their 'keeper has pulled off a worldie, but when they scored our confidence faded.” As the team were level at half time, Johnson chose to bring on Kadeem Harris which he feels had an impact on the game. “We thought by bringing Kadeem Harris we might be able to attack down their left hand side and expose the right back, which we did” said Johnson. “We just didn’t have the quality, only one or two crosses out of about fifteen found their man.” Ahead of this weekend’s match against Fleetwood, Johnson wanted to make sure his team bounced back and said the following. “We’ve got to make sure we get our shape right.” Johnson stated. “It wasn’t anybody not trying tonight, everyone ran around enough but we haven’t used our energy wisely. We’ve got to rally round and we need to have belief and show character.” Johnson finished by giving a message to the fans. “They need to stick with us," he added. "They were good tonight. We all need to come together, we’re Barnsley and we will dig in. It’s a fantastic fan base and I’ve got every faith the fans will come on Saturday and sing their hearts out.”
I don't think they need to Lee. Something like "Please stick with us" or "I hope they'll stick with us" or "I know they're frustrated but I beg them to stick with us" would have been better.....
The bit about the impact of Harris should worry everyone on here. The only impact of that change was to yet again play Nyatanga at left back where he is absolutely gash.
Agree. He had what seemed about 7 or 8 chances to put a decent ball in & didn't manage it once. No end product at all
'We adjusted the shape and stopped them playing' Lee mate we were against Walsall not Barcelona ffs!!!
He put one in that Winnall headed, keeper saved easy cos there was no pace on the cross and cut one back to Pearson on edge of box. He dunt know how to put a first time cross in cos he has to do his step over routine first before owt else. Even Jolly green giant wouldn`t have got to Wabara`s crosses even if he were up a six foot ladder.
