Honours degree and Masters degree for 12k per annum!!!! Good luck with that. Edit: it's part time- 19 hours a week, lol. still seems a bit low that for a Masters degree
Don't matter in todays world, electricians charge 250 a day, more than a junior doctor with numerous degrees and years of study to his name.
Still a bit low that though surely, for a Masters degree qualification. Plumber came round t'other day and charged me £65 to fit a radiator. Was only there hour and half.
A massive list of qualifications and a massive person spec. It’s a pity there’s no mention of common sense anywhere on the list.
20 main job points, 3 qualifications, 5 other job points, 8 personal skills and you might not get feedback at the end of it all. Not asking for much
Knock out peanuts these don't they. A Master's degree for 11 quid an hour? Ay oreyt. Don't get outta bed for owt less than 150.
Not trying to excuse the charge but I don’t know the full picture. 1. How long did it take him to get to the job. So we’ll say 1/2 hr travel. = 2hrs in total. £32.50 per hr. 2. Overheads . Training. Van. fuel Tools.etc 3. Holiday pay reasonable guess 10% 4 Sickness benefits 5. Pension contributions. All of which most employees get. I truly don’t know how much they’ll have in take home pay. What I do know. It’s costs companies around double the hrly rate payed to employees on the books. Which is why I very rarely question the charges of the self employed. ( same really if he’s on the books. ) Now , Gareth Bale on approx £500,000 per game. I’d moan about. That’s if playing. All season.
I wasn't knocking the rate for the plumber at all , lol I was trying to put the hourly rate for this new job at BFC into context, trying to compare something thst needs a Masters degree with 3 yrs experience (at £12 an hour) with a plumber who comes round and does a quick job for £40 an hour. If you want to take it further into perspective, surely somone with a Masters degree must have done close to 9 years education (2years A levels, 3 years Honours, 3-4 years Masters) then they want 3 years experience. Just seems low rate at £12 an hour for all that experience. I have a Masters degree and I know the amount of effort required to get to that stage. To do all that effort and expect to be paid so little seems derisory. Last point, the plumber lives 1 mile away, took him 5 minutes to get to my house, lol
I always pay workmen by bank transfer or card these days. If they offer me a lower price for cash payment I don’t use them at all.
Think you might get a reply from someone else on that mate. What I do know is. Some of my colleagues have left to try on their own. And come back for the security of a Regular wage. There were a shortage of plumbers 10+ yrs ago. Lots of folk went into that trade.
