Shame about the limited 7k capacity. It will be harder to create an atmosphere with so many parts of Oakwell empty.

Better to have a full stand than 4 x 3/4 empty ones. Be better for viewing as well.

Is it limited to just eas stand, or is that an example to give what the price is in that stand?

Surely it has pitch/ring side seats etc

It could be a way higher capacity

I'm glad the club are trying to give other uses for the ground and bringing different events etc, but the atmosphere will be poor. East stand only, no ringside/floor seating will happen because of how close the season is to starting. The ring will feel miles away unless they tuck it right up to the East stand.

Non the less, it will be a good fight, tough test for him. Hopefully the first of many that can be brought to Oakwell.

Again - the club and Callum aren’t daft.

It’ll be 7,500 for a reason (I’m not even sure what the new license has permitted - has anyone checked?) Still a great number though.

Or perhaps they’re looking to see how sales go for the East, before opening up another stand.

Let’s just applaud all for finally getting this going - it’s a learning curve for everyone, and has been muted for decades about non-football activities taking place.

I agree. Many former CEO/General manager's have discussed this sort of thing but never been able to deliver it so it's great to see an actual event being put on.

Not happy with the sign up process. Agree to receive communication, store and process data…both mandatory, no opt-out option. Didn’t think that was even legal now under GDPR.

7,500 would be a decent crowd for a fight of this level. No doubt there'll be a fair few Barnsley fans wanting to attend, however boxing events at Sheffield Arena don't generally sell that much more.

It's pretty clear why Callum Simpson would want to give priority tickets to fellow Barnsley FC fans for his upcoming fight at Oakwell. First off, Barnsley FC has a massive fanbase and a large part of that is season tixket holders. Tapping into that means Callum can promote his fight to a ready-made audience that already loves hanging out at Oakwell. It's smart marketing, ensuring a packed and buzzing crowd.

Also, let’s not forget that a lot of Callum's fans are Barnsley supporters too. There's a big overlap here, so it's a great way to bring together people who share a love for both the club and Callum's boxing career.

Callum is a regular at Barnsley games, not just a casual supporter. The club and its fans have been backing him all along, and this is his way of giving back. Plus, Barnsley FC is hosting the fight at Oakwell. Naturally, they want to give our loyal supporters the first chance to grab tickets. It builds a sense of community and ensures the event has a familiar and supportive atmosphere.

And let’s not forget, fighting at Oakwell is a dream come true for Callum. It's not just any venue; it’s a place that holds personal significance for him. Sharing this moment with fellow Barnsley fans makes it even more special.

So before you knock the idea, think about how this event is a win-win for everyone involved—the fans, the club, and Callum himself.

Hopefully everyone who wants to go and support him can get to do so. Right from getting his pro contract he's been on about fighting at Oakwell so its great it's happening, well done to everyone involved in securing it. .

He's fighting at Oakwell, he's going to get BFC fans there. Shouldn't be owt to do with ST holders.

He is already having the champion come to him. Our fans shouldn't get priority when it's a different sport.

The idea of scarcity comes into play with the priority tickets for season ticket holders. When you make something exclusive or limited, like offering tickets first to a select group, it creates a sense of urgency and value. People feel like they’re getting something special, and they’re more likely to jump on the opportunity quickly.

We only get about 10,000 home fans in most games.

Consider how many of them are young kids who won’t be at the boxing, plenty of elderly who won’t be going & then there will be lots who just aren’t into boxing.

I’d be amazed if it sells out. Getting tickets won’t be an issue.
