    Two and a half year contract, quite a big commitment, they must really rate him.

    And at 24 years old he is surely being brought in to challenge for a first team place rather than as a development 'underbelly' prospect. I'd expect to see him on the bench now White's gone out on loan.

    His goals fired us to promotion from the Fourth Division back in Allan Clarke's time (first spell).

    Derek Bell had pace and a thunderous shot. Remember seeing him at Hull City that season when during the warm up one of his shots hit a teenage girl selling pop and crisps on the perimeter. She was poleaxed, her tray went up in the air and bags of cheese n onion were flying everywhere! Happy days....

    I didn't see that but was in the 21,000 Oakwell crowd that saw us clinch promotion against Grimsby. Bell scored and stalwart centre half John Saunders got a free transfer!
