Order official Reds items via our Facebook shop - order this Saturday's programme before Friday and have it delivered Saturday morning!

Read More from the official site...

NOTE: The number of page impressions the club get on the official site also improves the ammount of money going into the club coffers. We all know we need every penny we get our hands on so if you'd got out of the habit of visiting the club site then could I suggest you visit it more frequently?
The club are aware of the short comings of the site and plans are in place to rectify these.

Can't read the official site.........they keep refering to us as the REDS

FFS !!!.............we have a unique name so cant the numbskulls at Barnsley Football Club grap hold of that unique name and capitalise on it
There must be nearly half the teams in the football league nicknamed the Reds

Unique? Well apart from the fact that it's a reference given to anyone from Yorkshire, and is also the nickname for a Rugby team from Leeds.

If you wanted something truly unique, and referring to the town's history, "Colliers" would be better.

Are we talking about football on here or rugby ?

    ............thought so

As for the other outdated names.........Colliers...........well thats long gone

Glassblowers..........now then, as things stand with the dismal marketing stratergy at Barnsley Football Club i wouldn't dismiss this name being put forward. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the club launched this as a marketing ploy.
I can see and hear it now.............'come on you blowers' !!!

AND..........as you say..........Tykes is the name that all the peoiple of Yorkshire assosiate with........now wouldn't that be good

No it wouldnt. I'm a Barnsley fan from Barnsley. I've got nothing in common with people from Leeds. What next? The northern hemisphere super tykes? that's a brilliant idea we'll get fans from spain and italy then. You're a genius Nudger, an absolute genius.

By the way have you ever wondered why your coat fastens at the back?

'Tykes'...... used by the media and such as Teletext...........because

................distinguishers us from a boat load of other so called 'Reds'.
    Manchester United
    Liverpool
    Nottingham Forest
    Etc etc etc

I honestly think Barnsley are missing a golden opportunity here
