TOBY SIBBICK POST-TRANMERE ROVERS Interviews After making his first Reds appearance since December 2019, Toby Sibbick says he is delighted to be back out on the pitch with his teammates. Continue reading on the official site...
I only caught the second half, but I was very impressed with Sibbick. The late block was a fantastic piece of defending, but he's also got composure on the ball and can pass it well. He cropped up in the opponents box too, so his inclusion in the right sided position gives us huge amounts of fluidity and mobility. We've suddenly got a lot of competition for the 3 CH positions. Halme, Kitching, Sibbick and even J Williams can all challenge now. Sad to see he was affected by the loans though and with such little game time its understandable. It really is important we have a duty of care with such young players when we send them on loan. Even more so in Sibbicks case when he was in a different country and culture at a time of pandemic.
If it wasn't for the glandular fever I think he could have done well on loan to Hearts, under a manager that rated him. Hopefully Val will see the same qualities and he will have another chance with us.
Interesting to hear that he was available for selection all the time he was at Oostende. Seems odd that he was only ever named on the bench once, considering they ship quite a few goals. Maybe he'd be a bit further along his development had he not gone out on loan this season.
Surprised but ultimately pleased that Toby was back and so up to speed straight away. I thought it might have taken him a bit of time to integrate back into the fold. Had a really good run out and great challenge to keep the clean sheet near the end. Well done Toby
