We always seem to have good junior teams coming through the system, going back years. Unfortunately not enough of them graduate to first team level. Something wrong with the coaching system maybe? I don't know what it is but it does seem odd that the first team can be struggling so badly while the junior sides are near the top of their leagues.

Some teams take a punt on sixteen year olds (Birmingham with Bellingham for example), but ours don't seem to reach those heights. Reuben Noble-Lazarus was that age when Davey brought him in, but he sank without trace.

The spreadsheet model doesn't really lend itself to bringing through many of our own young players because the young players brought in from other clubs means we have no experience to start with so you can't throw a young lad in with them. If we had a Matty James you could throw ackroyd in alongside him. You can't stick him next to Palmer or Benson though because it would be the blind leading the blind.
