I remember years ago going to watch Barnsley and Sheffield Wed at the Ball In training centre. It wasn't an official game more a match to get some playing time for some.It was the first time Lauren Ten Hauvil and the other Dutch lad Carol Van Der Velden had worn the red shirt. We also had the lad Hirst who we,d signed from Spurs but originally came from Lundwood.Danny and Eric were in attendence and although it was behind closed doors me and my mate got in.
Wed scored quite early in the game but then Danny pulled a master stroke which changed the game.
After starting young Hirsty at right back he pushed him up from .The game swung our way .Hirsty scored a hattrick the Dutch lads were differant class especially Van Der Velden. With the score at 6-1 their coach was asking Danny with about 80 minutes gone "can we call it a day" Danny replied no we'll see it through to the end and we literally took the urine for the last 10 minutes.
