I wasn't expecting that when I clicked it. I thought from your response he would either have gone on and on or just said 'yeah, it's great'.

New signing Reece Wabara spoke to the media after completing his switch to Oakwell and gave his thoughts about Lee Johnson and his new surroundings.

Wabara said: “I left Doncaster at the end of the season and I wanted to keep myself ambitious and test myself a bit further.

“Wherever I went it was about going to a football side that was ambitious and that was my main aim. I wanted to go to an environment that matched my ambition and drive.”

Barnsley is Wabara’s seventh club and already feels at home in his new surroundings.

“I’ve settled in really quickly and the lads have been brilliant," he added. "I played 40 minutes against Millwall which was nice. I’m happy, the infrastructure is great and the science side is too.

“I’ve missed pre-season and I’ve been doing work on my own but nothing compares to training every day. I’m a naturally fit lad but should be up to speed and hopefully I’ll be in for a start on Saturday.

Reece continued to praise Lee Johnson and feels his ambition is beneficial to both himself and the club this season.

“I spoke to Lee Johnson last week and had a good two-hour chat with him. He gave me his football philosophy and what I can add to the team, how he can improve me and get me back to where he thinks I can play.

“He has only been in management a short time and aims to progress and push on even further as do I. The conversation we had was very positive and I had full faith even in the short time I spent with him.

“The manager said we’re aiming for the top two and I think we’ve got a great chance, I’m really looking forward to it.”
