I went to the Ship and took my Palace fan brother in law. It was to watch the Arsernal v Man Utd match a few years since. (the one with the really good Henry goal). It was before the ship had been done up. Well it was like a scene from deliverence !! I **** myself and I'm only from the next village !!! We sat in silence not moving our gaze from the TV screen for fear of being either smacked or bum raped. After the quickest pint ever we departed and hot footed it to the Edge to watch the match in more civilised surroundings. I used to knock around t' Brigg in my youth and know loads of people including my wife's family from there, but **** knows where the mob there that Sunday had decended from.
They weren't Briggers They'll have been from those bungalows in Ward Green, nasty lot they are. I bet the Bank of England had just put up interest rates, that'll rile em good and proper.
I remember going to a party at your house..... ... top do it was !!! 1977 about May I think. First Cut is the deepest/ I don't want to talk about it was in the charts. Addidas hooped tee shirts and three stripe trainers were the fashion statement of the time. **** me !!! 30 years since !!!
Is that local name for it ? Had to meat (no sp) a lass in there. Taxi driver actually waited for me cos he said as I wasn't a local I might get a scutch.
RE: That's it. used to go to many of the clubs in the late 70s (Birdwell, Dale , New Lodge, Swaithe, Wombwell) to see bands like Bitter Sweet, Ponders End, Bliss, Limelight etc funnily enough I don't remember them appearing at Barrow.
There was a novelty band going around at the time.. very funny but I can't remember their name. Help anyone ?

Just a bloody excuse to spend the ratepayers money Worbrough residents are living in run down and delapidated houses (not all) but the council have provided luxurious accomodation for migrants, immigrants, waifs and strays wondering into Barnsley from darn sarf.
