Why do we get this accepted mantra of our club, our team, having been in decline for years?

Not so long ago flicker took over and got 34 points from 21 games.

    Championship playoff form.

Due to the players, plus manager.

Whatever happened next (disaster btw) it proved we had the players.

And the organisation. and the spirit.

    We need that now.

I look at clubs like Doncaster, Chesterfield, Preston, Bradford and the like... they've all had fluctuating fortunes over the last decade or so. All those teams have at one stage been in what could be labelled a 'crisis', seemingly in a rut and going nowhere but downwards. But all have pulled it around and been on the up turn. Doncaster and Chesterfield have done it twice, yo-yoing between two divisions but still eventually looking decent. Donny had a horrible summer last year, looking like they'd struggle to field a side come opening day. They're now one point off 6th and looking good. And in each case, the turnaround has come about by getting a manager and a set of players to set themselves up in an effective way and just win matches. It's not rocket science. But time and time again Barnsley Football Club have attempted to affect change and start a turnaround, but time and time again it's failed. We've either had the most horrendous luck with signings and managerial appointments for a decade now, or there is something ingrained at Oakwell that is preventing the club from progressing positively.

Maybe we have a curse upon us? Maybe Cryne needs to piss on all four corners of Oakwell pitch to get rid of it?
