Oh dear.... pc and dv camera help reqd please.......

for some strange reason I do not understand my pc does not want to capture dv video from my sony dv videocamera.
I've tried on several software progs (Nero, Roxio, Ulead) to do a capture but each one rejects the input as "unknown".
I'm doing it via a 1394 firewire cable, and I know this is working ok as the control buttons on the various programmes on screen will stop/start/fast forward-reverse the camera via the cable, but the actual capture simply won't happen, and nothing appears in the preview windows of the programmes when I start the camera.
Anybody out there got any ideas?
It's driving me up the wall............... ta much.

I haven't tried to do a capture yet, but will do on return from my holiday when I'vge done my filming.</p>

try and remove the software from your computer, and re-install it. on windows pc´s you probably need to install drivers for your camera too
