In F1 What is the rule change next season which penalises taller drivers? Both Webber and Button mentioned it recently but didn't say what it was.
It went over mine too when they mentiond it before qualifying yesterday. It was something about Webber not being happy with the rule change for next season which will penalise taller (and heavier) drivers and that it was probably partially the reason that he left. Then button said he wasn't happy about it either as he will also be penalised for being taller. They didn't mention what the change was though. Or I might have imagined it
Oops. It's Sunday, don't expect me to get your subtle jokes on a Sunday. That's more of a friday thing.
I think taller, therefore presumably heavier, drivers have always been at a slight disadvantage as teams use ballast to increase the weight of the car so that it means the minimum allowed car+driver weight. With shorter/lighter drivers, the team have more ballast to distribute to get the best cornering performance from the car and the distribution won't necessarily be uniform. Not sure what in particular there is in next years' rules that would penalise them further. Are we going to the smaller turbo engines next year? Seems like it could be the biggest set of changes for quite a while, hope it shakes it up and improves the viewing a bit.
