that normally happens to me if you flick to something that uses a lot of computing power ie. a film. Normally goes away if you give it a minute or minimize and come back in again. not exactly the most tecky of answers but that's what happens for me.
If you have only just started with this you have done very well, mine has done it since i can remember and has little to do with processsor but memory and video memory. When you switch between the video/tv/dvd and a n other process the windows interface doesn't refresh as quickly, i tend to take the dvd down to minimize and then restore and all comes back. Must have been built right that system of yours................. LOL
