Fast forward to the end of the season.

    Barnsley relegated to League One.

Simon Davey is finally sacked. Davey comments to the media:

"It has been a rollercoaster ride for me at Oakwell - but I'm grateful to the chairman and the fans. Realistically, they're a cracking little first division club and I'm proud I managed to keep them in the Championship for four years. I think it was a genuine achievement. And we had some great times - taking a club of that size to the F.A. Cup semi-finals at Wembley, beating Liverpool and Chelsea, is something I'll never forget. But I'm ready for a bigger challenge now, and I'm ready to listen to offers".

Barnsley F.C. cast around the doll drums for another manager who can keep a 'cracking little club' in the first division. Simon Davey moves on the managerial roundabout to Ipswich Town or some such...

Get rid now and have a fighting chance of staying up?

RE: If we lose both games against Reading then..

    I'd agree with that.

Don't want to be calling for his head as I still believe these players will come good. But perhaps it will be a different man who brings the best out of them.
He just doesn't seem capable of reacting when things are not going to plan........oh and theres also the fact that we can't defend and can't score either.

But, I don't see the point of chanting "Davey out" during the game. We should be getting behind the team, ffs, we had 2 new recruits today, what kind of welcome was that? Cryne will make up his own mind, we should know by now he is not a man to be swayed by public opinion and chants like that are more likely to harden his attitude. He will make up his mind when he wants to. If Davey is incapable of motivating the squad, we, as fans should be doing what we can to do it for him instead.

The scenes at the end of todays game were frankly disgusting. Fans almost coming to blows (I was leaving as it was getting nasty so don't know how it ended up) many calling for Davey to go, others saying we don't need fans like you, stay away if thats all you got to say. It was a joke on the pitch and to those Leicester fans and stewards watching, a joke in the stands too.

But not as much of a joke as the fat drummer and the pink slapper :D .

There will be a lot more of that in coming weeks if he doesn't go and people attitutes harden.

What was disgusting was the paki chants, and the scab chants were frankly just pathetic ignorance.

At the end, when we were leaving, there was some pointing and preparing by stewards and police - I seriosuly hope they were getting ready to pull and arresting those responsible for the Paki stuff on their way out - it shames the town and for me they should just wade straight in and pull them out.

Agree its disgusting, was sat a couple of rows behind 2 asian barnsley fans who sat thru it. Those nearest to them apologised as they left, why should we feel the need to apologise for other morons.
They shame the town and the club and it happens everytime we play Leicester.

I don't agree with racism but why does racism seem to be more serious an issue than say gypsyism or fatism for example?

The 'Paki' chants are absolutely ******* appalling in my view. They make us look like a backwards, small-minded town - which I'd like to think we're not.

As for 'Die, die, scabby, scabby die?' Isn't Leicester in Leicestershire? The clue's in the name, folks.

Still, each to their own, I guess.

generally, you choose to be fat or a gypsy, if you don't want grief change your lifestyle.
I don't think being black or asian is a lifestyle choice.

A vast amount of our 'supporters' are imbeciles

Unfortunately. Not a GCSE between half the ones I see at away games I'd guess.

At Forest last year there were a host of people who had their back to the game just chanting 'scab scab scab' at the Forest fans for the majority of the game.

    Really supporting Barnsley that is.

You're right and no excuses but it was very, very cold and the performance was very, very dire that day, as I recall!

I think that was another case of us playing 4-5-1, even though we had been on a reasonable run with 4-4-2, against a promoted team, one who were at a very low ebb and just about to sack their manager. Davey's rotten tactics handed it to them on a plate again.

Next match I can get to is Derby away.................if its like last year, there'll be more scab chants then.
Now whilst at Forest it may be a pointless chant but nevertheless factually correct, if I remember correctly there were very few (on a par with Yorkshire) strike breakers in Derbyshire.

And what chance Davey still there for Derby (3 games away)

    disagree

We were all over them - but somehow managed to lose 1-0. For the last ten minutes we were camped on the edge of their area (in front of our stand). We had Cureton on loan from Norwich, came on as sub. I remember Anderson missing a header at point blank in the first half that should have put us 1-0 up. We never should have lost that game.

And regardless, half of our fan base spent their time chanting 'Scabs' at middle-aged housewives, elderly people and juveniles. Most of the kids that were doing the chanting weren't even alive when the strike was on (or even ten years later for that matter).

Then we all got back from the match and argued about the minerstrike and the validity of chanting 'scabs' at people from Nottingham.

    OK......

for the miniscule number of gypsies that are actually romanies, living as a peaceful traditional gypsy, I'll accept that.
But the vast majority are travellers intent on an evasive criminal lifestyle.

i do really wish he could turn it round and i also dont agree with the chanting of davy out, but

i do think he's done his best for us but its become quite obvious his best isnt good enough, i'll hold my hand up and say i was one of those who didnt agree with sacking him at the end of the the season but i think for the sake of the club and simon himself its time for him to go, but i would never slate him and hopefully he would find success at some other club
