Can anybody tell me the name of the tune that the team used to come out to around the time of Mel Machin. It was a kind of irish jig that Gerry Taggart used to dance to!
They called it The Oakwell Clapping Song. Camp beyond belief. When I was in Belgium some ridiculously kitchy band with comedy Belgian beards were playing it, I couldn't believe my ears!
The gayest tune in the history of football. Conjured up images of leiderhosen and thigh slapping. Not good.
It's by The Klaxons. I must admit I prefer their most recent work! If you would like to appreciate the Clap Clap song and some of their other accordian based classics and if you have spotify click here http://open.spotify.com/artist/1ajKVVeguChWXvyDr7L8rv There's also a facebook group dedicated to bringing it back to Oakwell which has the song on if anyone is interested http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=328434267118&v=wall
