“There’s definitely something to be said for tried and tested players. It’s better the devil you know, than the devil you don’t. “We’ve got a lot of similar players at the moment, but we are looking for a certain type of DNA of player for the squad we’re trying to build." Is that directly from the Keith Hill book of ballax ?
He fits the bill. 22 with bags of potential. Winchester as well but he signed a new deal in March. So unless he has a release fee set he may cost some ££
Oldham have got some decent players but I hope it isn't going to turn into the Hill saga signing all his mates
Just had a quick look on the Oldham forum and the top thread is discussing this article in the Star. This is what they had to say on Elokobi.. First two going James Wilson Liam Kelly. Wouldn't be surprised if mvoto leaves them and George Elokobi goes to them In all seriousness, I would bite their hands off if they were to offer Mvoto for Elokobi...
If there quality players and are going to improve us and put a shift in for 90 mins then they can be best mates, i couldnt care. Problem with hill he brought alot of ***** in which weren't up to the job.
Few people on their board picked out Jones, Kelly, Winchester and Mills as the "must keeps" with Winchester being the most highly rated. They call him Anders Winiesta...
Pop him beside Houriane in CM with JOS and Ryan Williams on the flanks. Then we can sign Waring to play a front two of him with Winnall. That attacking front six should get us promoted.
Re: Leave them there from talking with an Oldham fan, we're welcome to Poleon & Forte as neither are rated that highly, their best players are Mike Jones, Liam Kelly & Winchester, there's rumours that one player they've currently got on loan, Conor Wilkinson from Bolton will be heading to Oakwell in the summer, highly thought of by Johnson and apparently was desperate to go back to Bolton when he left, saying only wanted to play for Johnson
Re: Leave them there maybe so, but the lad watches him week in week out so i'd be inclined to trust his judgement over ours, plus apart from this season (of which most of his goals came in a flurry in the first half of the season) his previous record is of a 1 in 5 ratio striker per season and I think we've had enough of those over recent times
Re: Leave them there Can't believe people are suggesting Jonathan Forte. Fair enough, he's having a decent season with Oldham, but besides that his goalscoring record is woeful. I hear good things about Poleon, from some of 'dem Blades and Leeds fans. Liam Kelly is probably the midfield bite that we need. Didn't Lee Johnson sign Rhys Murphy, the lad we attempted to sign from Dagenham?
Re: Leave them there One of the poorest teams I've seen this season so I'm hoping not too many myself.
