Opinions? As part of the deal, Premier League side Newcastle United will visit the ground on 15 July to play the first match under its new name. Yes they will get more money, but is it messing with a piece of history? Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28144525
Naming rights to a new stadium is one thing, but renaming a club's ancestral home is just wrong. Just another example of money spoiling the beautiful game.
Am sure most footie fans will still call it Boundary Park or that shitoil, so nowt much`ll change only the wonga.
Good on them for finding a new revenue stream. It will still be Boundary Park to the fans anyway. If the money helps pay off debts, starve off admin, strengthen the team etc then good on them.
Agree with the two posters above, to most footy fans it will always be called Boundary Park, just the TV, Internet sites etc like The Football League Show and Sky Sports that will call it by it's 'official' name. Just look at Newcastle, still St James Park to everyone, always has been always will be.
I hate it. Our history and tradition is one of the few things we have left to hold on to in this era of the game. Why don't we call the game Skyball- I'm surprised they haven't tried that
Exactly. If we got a good six figure fee to help out Danny they can rename our ground Andrex Stadium with pictures of their puppy all over the place for all I care.
Part of the greed is good culture that pervades modern football. Sad really. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
