Daniel Nardiello found space just outside the Latics box and hit a shot that rolled comfortably to the arms of Chris Day. 10mins Goal: Barnsley's Chris Shuker hit a first time cross into the Latics danger zone, Nardiello climbed to get his head to the ball and flicked it past Day who narrowly avoided getting a hand to it. 15mins Goal: The Latics were caught flat in defence; Devaney made a run into the goal area and hit a well placed shot that beat Day at full stretch diving to his left. 17mins Goal: Barnsley once again overpowering the Latics fed the ball to Shuker who took no hesitation in hitting the ball home from well inside the area, once again beating 'Keeper Day. 25mins: Howard booked for a harsh challenge on Rob Scott. 28mins: Guy Branston got his head on a long throw in by Scott, the resulting header drifted just over the crossbar to deny the Latics of their first real goal scoring opportunity . 31mins: A Killen header was just tipped over the bar by Colgan from a cross played in by Liddell. The resulting corner taken by Eyres, bounced of the back post only to be turned away by the Barnsley Defence. 38mins Mark Tierney replaces Garreth Owen , carried off the field following a challenge by Howard. 40mins: Branston heads over the crossbar to safety as a dangerous shot hit by Nardiello re bounds off the cross bar and bounces onto the goal line. Half Time Oldham were torn apart by an explosive six minute spell by Barnsley that brought them three goals. The Latics defence went walkabout, all three were sloppy goals to concede and it was the first time Barnsley had found the net in five games. Second Half Barnsley started the second half as they opened the first , almost netting their fourth from a shot by Howard that Chris Day just managed to tip around the post 55mins Goal: Barnsley grabbed their fourth as the Latics defence were once again torn wide open, Chris Shuker comfortably hit his shot past Day and into the Top right. 60mins: Latics substitution Warne replaces Beckett 64mins: Warne hits the target from a long throw in by Scott, his low drive was unfortunately hit straight into the arms of Colgan. 75mins: Barnsley substitution Marc Richards replaces Paul Hayes Oldham crashed to their first defeat in four games and their heaviest of the season. They never recovered from a poor start when Barnsley scoredthree Goals in six minutes. The home side completed their rout with a fourth goal after the break.
