woo hoo.... lets all party party! no doubt some bent councillor or two will be getting in on the act. Good for the kids though as a memory before they become all cynical!! hth
Hopefully inspire the younguns to become the next bunch of sporting talent we can build up then knock down at every given opportunity!
kids just had photo taken with torch bearing in Ackworth We saw the torch in London in 2008 before the semi final v cardiff. the sugarbabes paraded it through London on an open top bus. My son told his teacher at school that he had seen it before and she told him he was lying. Took photo into school today to prove it and she wasn't interested
Thanks for the reminder - just watching the Barnsley College webcam so I might just get to watch a live streaming of the torch in Barnsley from all these miles away.
Not one of the torch bearers from Barnsley, am l missing something? http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/torchbearers/community=barnsley/
Two of them are doing another nearby leg on today's route. Cant remember which but remember seeing Barnsley as their hom town.
Two Spaniards though, that's what's really important, screw the locals and put the foreigners first, pretty typical for this country.
Sorry to piss on your fire, but it happens on every torch carrying, regardless of country. Anyone can apply to carry it.
I went to see it. Started off all cynical and boring and that and ended up with a smirk on mi face. Nice to see Tarn so full and fowk clearly enjoying themselves. What's not to like abart that?
Agreed. The town of Barnsley has very little to be upbeat about, so glad to read of thousands out to see it.
Absolute load of ****** town centre at a stand still for a oversized Swan vesta, at least as I was stuck in traffic I thought I must be daft working to pay for it all.
I don't get it or see the point in it. The olympics are in London, nowhere near barnsley. Most barnsley folk can't afford to go to the olympics, we're nothing to do with it at all really yet we have this torch being carried around Barnsley like it's something magical when in reality it's a token gesture and nothing more. That's my negative side. My positive side says that kids will have loved it, so will some of the adults and at the end of the day what harm is it doing? I don't have to 'get' it, I don't have to see the point in it because it isn't all about me, it's about everyone and if it brings a smile to peoples faces then it's a great thing. And on this one my positive side wins hands down. The torch, though nothing that excites me, is a brilliant thing to go through the town.
