Instead of going to Oakwell last night I went to the Etihad to watch Man City v PSG with my whole family. The great thing about this is that we aren't normally able to do anything like this as my 16 year old has a profound learning disability. However, Man City have a sensory room big enough for two families at each game. You pay for tickets as normal (although one of us gets in free as a carer. You get free parking right by the entrance, a member of staff takes you from the entrance up to the sensory room and then there are two specialist staff to help you throughout the game. Free drinks and food are brought in for you as well and there are seats outside to watch the game or you can watch from the full height one way window in the room itself. I have to say this is amazing service from Man City, who do so much within their own community for inclusiveness and diversity on all levels. The scale of the operation at the Etihad is vast, the difference between the Maine Road days and now is utterly worlds apart.
Remember when we used to play Citeh regularly and often came off the better. From the eighties to the early noughties IIRC? How times have changed.
I’m going to their game Sunday against West Ham. Piss easy to get tickets and it’s entertainment at its finest.
Tbh if I had to choose any prem side to watch it would be Liverpool, Man City pass it around too much for me but they've scored some good goals. De Bruyne will still be out won't he?
Don’t want to be a downer, but that wonderful story reminded me that years ago, I can’t remember when, City fans bombarded our disabled stand with coins. Nice to think that sometimes things do change for the better.
