Thanks to Sky and mega rich morons with too much time and money football is already dead, has been a long time.
I keep hearing that City have killed football but the premiership in the last 5 or 6 seasons with the exception of last season has been brilliant. We've got a 3 horse race for the league. On top of that Liverpool have been outstanding at times, United are struggling but aren't a million miles off the pace then you've got the likes of Everton, Spurs, Newcastle & Southampton who have all played their part in a cracking season up to now. City also play brilliant football & even give teams a chance by playing a homeless bloke off the streets who's never been a footballer at centre half (Demichelis). If you think premiership football has been killed I'd like to know what you think of Barcelona & Real's monopoly over the TV money in Spain, now that it what you call killing football.
I got that bit. But you said they were killing football. I'd agree they're carrying one of the weapons and that, but for me I reckon it's Man Utd actually doing the murder. Or sumat.
Agree watching super sundays been very good for quite a few years now. So many good teams in there. 8 maybe really good teams.
And it's really helping Barnsley compete in the league below, proper fair innit? Then there's the England team. The Prem being soooo good is really helping England compete in tournaments innit? No.
Only the teams with big money can really compete on a consistent basis and parachute payments make the Championship one of the most unfair contests in sport, however I see your point that the quality of football has been good and there are now a few more teams involved in the title race...
I'm not sure how you can say that. The premier league been so good helps the championship and without the prem the Championship wouldn't be the league it is. Gordan Owen posted a link to that irish clubs forum and I had a little read and even they were saying how good the champ . If you want to talk about the England team theres a reason so many of our players play in England. The standard of the top divisions so good that why would players leave the league to join lesser leagues. Doesn't make sense for them to do so.
Brilliant? I'm showing my age and I'll get some stick but I fall asleep watching it. Utter, utter bilge.
That's oreyt then as long as it's good for people to watch 'super Sunday' at home on telly then everything's great with English Football. That kind of expenditure is really fair to teams lower down the footballing pyramid. **** me blind. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
As a Barnsley fan I couldn't give a toss about the premiere league, all I care about is the negative impact the Sky money is having on the majority of teams outside of the damned PL.
Easy. The likes of Blackburn can afford £8m strikers courtesy of the Prem. That's why it's not good. Couldn't give a **** about other reasons if am honest, just the reasons that affect my club. YOUR ******* CLUB. You are a Barnsley fan aren't you? Keith Hill was bang on.
Okay Fine the Jordan Rhodes deal wasn't right but the leagues can't stop the clubs from doing that. It wasn't right but actually how many times have clubs spent that sort of money on players? Not many and maybe that was the only one.
There's a hell of a lot wrong with English football. Too many foreigners, the disgusting parachute payments, ticket prices etc but in terms of entertainment it's as good as ever. The amount of goals scored each season seems to go up each year. My only gripe with this is that none of our top teams seem able to defend. Between 2005 & 2010 our top teams were solid at the back & did well in Europe but the likes of Bayern, Barca & Madrid have got better whilst the standard of our clubs has got worse but it's made the premiership more entertaining.
Sorry but thats not really true. The English teams were doing very well and didn't we get 3 in to the semi's one year. How many country's have done that? Now all of our teams have been reshaping. Arsenal Chelsea and Manchester United are having to redevelop and it looks like Arsenal have done that now. Also remember both Manchester United and Arsenal were so close to beating either real or Bayern in there last 16 games?
I think every sane football fan, football manager, football 'expert' would suggest the parachute Prem money is making it impossibly unfair, and impossible for smaller clubs such as ours to compete.
