Fecker keeps freezing and the only way to make it work again is to CTRL, ALT, DLT and end task on the explorer (normally second one down) it thinks for a few seconds and then moves again.

Also, can't access owt from the Desktop, double click on it and it does nowt, unless I do the same as above and after a short while it will load very slowly

    any ideas ?

    Are you running Windows XP?

Is the machine relatively new? If so, it shouldn't "freeze" unless something is hammering the processor.

When you hit CTRL-ALT-DEL hit the "Task Manager" button and have a look on the "Processes" tab. In the "CPU" column take a look for anything with a high % value and report back."System Idle Process" should be the highest value (when the machine is not doing much) as this value indicates the % of the processor that is "free".

    HTH,
    Stephen

    I don't think its XP

CTRL, ALT and DLT just brings up the close programme box

perhaps I should get a new one

Yes, it's time for an upgrade!

Get yourself a wireless laptop with a built in DVD Writer. There are plenty knocking around forthe same price as a desktop.

Never found a laptop that runs like a desktop of the same spec, processors get too warm and tend to slow them down

I'm on my second laptop. However, it's for convenience more than spec. If I had a choice I'd rather have a desktop.
